The Wedding for Alex will be auctioned on eBay beginning June 9 and ending June 15st.

WHAT DATES CAN I CHOOSE FOR MY WEDDING?
In order to coordinate arrangements with the many vendors participating in A Wedding for Alex, we have chosen a date of Sat. August 17th, 2013.

IF I WANT TO INVITE MORE THAN 135 PEOPLE TO THE RECEPTION, CAN I JUST PAY THE DIFFERENCE?
The Omni Hotel at Independence Park is a boutique property and can only accommodate a maximum of 135 people for the dinner reception.

IF I WANT TO INVITE FEWER THAN 135 PEOPLE TO THE RECEPTION, CAN I APPLY THE DIFFERENCE TO ANOTHER HOTEL SERVICE, SUCH AS ROOMS FOR MY GUESTS?
No.

IF I CHOOSE WEDDING RINGS THAT ARE MORE EXPENSIVE THAN $1,500, CAN I APPLY THAT MONEY TOWARD THE TOTAL VALUE?
Sure. The $1,500 is a gift certificate and can be applied to anything in the store.

DOES THE WEDDING INCLUDE TRANSPORTATION TO PHILADELPHIA IF I LIVE OUT OF TOWN?
No.

WHAT IF I WANT TO HOLD MY CEREMONY IN A CHURCH INSTEAD? DO I HAVE TO GET MARRIED AT THE HOTEL?
No. There are churches of nearly every denomination in Philadelphia. Arrangements between the bridal couple and the church are, however, the responsibility of the couple.

WHAT PERCENTAGE OF MY BID IS TAX DEDUCTIBLE?
Bidders can deduct from their taxes the difference between the amount paid for the wedding and the wholesale cost of the items donated.

I’M GAY. CAN THE WEDDING PACKAGE BE USED AS A SAME SEX COMMITMENT CEREMONY?
Of course.

MANY OF MY GUESTS ARE VEGETARIAN. CAN THE HOTEL ACCOMMODATE DIETARY RESTRICTIONS?
The hotel can accommodate many dietary restrictions, including the preparation of vegetarian meals. The Omni does not have a kosher kitchen but we do offer kosher-style cuisine. More specific questions can be asked by clicking on the Contact portion of the web site. We will respond promptly.

WHAT IS THE ALEX’S LEMONADE STAND FOUNDATION?
Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF) emerged from the front yard lemonade stand of cancer patient Alexandra “Alex” Scott. At the age of four, Alex announced that she wanted to hold a lemonade stand in her front yard to raise money to help find a cure for all childhood cancers. To date, ALSF, a registered 501(c)3 charity, has raised more than $19 million and funded more than 80 research projects nationwide, including those examining leukemia, brain tumors, neuroblastoma, Wilm’s tumor, lymphoma and osteosarcoma, among others.

HOW MUCH MONEY WILL BE DONATED TO THE CHARITY?
Every cent.

I WANT TO MAKE A DONATION TO ALEX’S LEMONADE STAND. CAN I DO THAT DIRECTLY?
Sure. The Omni Hotel at Independence Park will be holding an Alex's Lemonade Stand in the lobby. All are welcome. Donors can also mail a check made out to The Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation to the Omni Hotel at Independence Park, 401 Chestnut St., Philadelphia, PA. 19106

WHAT ARE THE MENU OPTIONS AT THE OMNI? CAN I SEE THE CHOICES?
The wedding web site – www.aweddingforalex.com – has more information on menu options. In addition to delicious, creative appetizers and side dishes, the bride and groom can choose between filet mignon, an array of fresh seafood choices or chicken.
